This can come from several different sources and deal with many different areas of life. Maybe they fear not living a long life or not getting a spouse and kids or not making a lot of money. Maybe they are "standing on the Scriptures" for something they desire and are concerned their spell will not be effective.
Whatever it is, it is a prescription for depression. If you are sad for not reaching it, know that YOUR EXPECTATIONS are the only thing calling you a failure, and you are missing out on enjoying the life you DO have.
Consider this. Many people think they should live to old age, despite the AVERAGE lifespan for thousands of years being 25-40. So, if you beat that, you beat the majority of those being born. Are you living in poverty? Global Issues says, "Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day...At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day." You are definitely not alone.
The problem is we have become arrogant, tapping our foot like a spoiled child waiting for our 'blessings" while others have had it and currently have it much worse.
Instead of demanding what we do not have, our life would be much happier if we spent the time enjoying what we do have, instead.
