Actions Prove How Real Something Is To You

I have written about it in the past, a while ago when I did devotional posts, but many of the concepts of the Bible are over-spiritualized to be exclusive, when they are really just universal concepts that are still true, but they are true in the sense that it happens to everyone that way, like gravity or plant growth.  They can be used to be an analogy for spiritual truths, but the underlying concept is true, regardless.

One of those concepts is referenced in the Bible, when it says, "Faith without works is dead." (James 2:26)

While the author is referencing faith in God and acts that it would produce, it is true for any invisible emotion or quality.  If someone says they love someone, you would expect to see evidence of that displayed in some way.  If someone says they want to get in shape, you would expect to see them exercising or watching their diet.  If someone wants to get a job, you would expect to see them applying.

However, that evidence makes it TRUE, whether or not it is successful.  Let me repeat that in a way I used to put it.  The success of an attempt does not invalidate the TRUTH of the attempt.  If you are trying, you are true, regardless of whether your attempt bears fruit.  Meanwhile, if you are NOT trying, it is ALSO NOT TRUE for you, even if you say that it is or want for it to be true.  Like biblical faith, there would be SOME display of action to accompany the desire, or it is just a theory to you.

So, if you want to be true to your principles and move forward in your life, take action.  You may not succeed, but you will have the peace of knowing you are living true to yourself.
