I remember when I was getting married the first time that I read a Christian book about marriage that said you should go into marriage with eyes wide open and half shut thereafter. It was to mean to not be so critical and just enjoy the ride.
The same is true for work. One thing I do with my jobs is to get to the place where it is routine and allow me to tune it all out and think. In accounting, that was with earphones. Driving, I like to enjoy the environment and listen to the radio.
When you do this, you still get to do the job and get paid, but you are also more likely to enjoy doing it, which is key to job satisfaction and sticking around.
