Embedded in this command to rest is one key to a problem in our society, right now..
“Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God.” Ex 20:9-10
Notice it says “shalt thou labour”.. I’m betting that wasn’t the first thing you thought of in that, since it is known as the SABBATH command of the 10 commandments, but it actually leads off with a command we work 6 days.
We live in a very lazy remote control and deliver to me culture, and no one wants to put in the work in relationships or actual work for pay. The liberal culture that mails out checks to everyone for just existing leads them to think all you have to do it exist to receive, but we all have our parts to play and responsibility to fulfill. If we don’t, no relationship.. or society.. will stand.
