I have been driving around in my deliveries blaring Christmas music that is playing on one of the stations that went all Christmas, recently. Some that pays attention to my social media and such might wonder, as I have at times posted my skepticism of the church from my experience or even questioned some of Christian history as being God directed, because I believe that to err is human.. even if that err is being done for God. Even Paul spoke of things like not getting married as being something that he said and "not the Lord" even though it is included in the Bible.
However, I don't need a Bible to believe in a loving God. Why? Love exists. It must have been created by someone that knew it enough to put it there. The empathy that we see of giving of ourselves to those that are in need came from... somewhere... someone. So, assuming that our sacrifice is virtuous, doesn't it stand to reason that a God would have the heart of a parent and the desire to do whatever it takes to save us.. whether that is payment for sin or standing between stone holders and a prostitute.
I believe in Good. I believe in hope. I believe that the holidays are a time for us to reflect on the journey, cry for the sorrows, and believe in the possibility of a brighter, tomorrow. So, even though my own life has had many things that can easily cause doubt from experience, it is also entirely possible that those endings were GOD DIRECTED so that I would be available when the future that He WANTS comes available, as well.
So, this holiday season, take the time to allow yourself to honestly feel the darkness of the past without letting it darken your hope and take the courage to believe that your journey is not done, yet.
Forward.
