Stop Supporting Users (Boycott convert)

I am not someone that has supported boycotts in the past.  I have felt that business and politics should be kept separate, and as a general rule I think that is the case.  Everyone has the freedom to disagee, so when I see news stories saying "boycott" I cringe.  However, the last year has had one exception growing in your mind.

The exception is this, and I do think it is not only valid but needed.  What if the company is the one to cross the line into politics?  What if it is not an activist trying to weed out the unspoken political views of the corporate execs or minister or whatever?  What if the company (or church) is explicitly funding and promoting dangerous views of society?  Do we not, then, have not only a right but a responsibility to ensure they do NOT use our money to that end?  To do otherwise would be to willingly become an accomplice to their actions.

And, it may seem little...the things they do now...but consider this.  Chic-fil-a, hobby lobby, and others seemed like simple retail outlets.  You can get cheap chicken or crafts products.  They don't put up signs saying ...we hate gays or down with liberty.  However, their leaders were explicitly saying those things in line with those principles.  Then, we get a racist homophobe running for office, and they took all your money and helped put office to eliminate your choices.

So, yeah... I am coming around on the principle that we all have a responsibility to ensure our money supports a world we like, and before conservatives call me hypocritical, I think they should follow this, too.  Don't like California?  Stop buying wine or movies.  Don't like the arts, get rid of your paintings and don't attend the ballet.  Don't like New York values?  Stop buying anything made there.  Don't, however, buy liberals good and then tell them the lives that made them are evil and must change.  Many many church members are guilty of weekly condemning the "evil" world on Sunday and participating in it the rest of the week.  And these church members may say I am not on staff. I am just attending.  True...but... to get back to the point of this post.. you are directly responsible for the funds they do use.

So, I am recommending a simple concept.  The next time you are thinking what should I eat or buy or a "charity" to support, consider what they promote and ask. that the world I would want them to create with my money... because, this election shows, one day they may just do it.

The Slavery of Weak Minds to Propaganda (Just the Facts Ma'am)

Here I will give you several facts to consider, if you dare.  Sadly, most won't challenge their presuppositions, because so many don't believe what is true but what they want to be true, which serves to enslave them and destroy the very foundation upon which they walk.  You're path can't lead you to success or happiness, if there is nothing under your feet upon which to walk or is headed in the wrong direction, even if you DESIRE it to lead you there.

Facts.  That is where we have to start.  I feel like an elementary teacher, explaining simpleton concepts, lately, because logic has departed the station for so many.  Facts are what exists.  They are evident.  They are proven.  You don't have to theorize them or believe they are true.  They just ARE, even if you don't believe them.  If I believe that I will fly and step off a tall building, gravity is going to be a hard wake up call.  If I believe I can breathe under water, I am going to meet my God a little faster.  And, if I believe an experienced abuser of the wills of others are going to suddenly become a different person, I am going to be disappointed.  Yet, so many believe that the violent will suddenly become peaceful, the selfish giving, the deceitful trustworthy, based on nothing more than that they want it to be true.

I think the two biggest areas in our society of self deception are religion and politics, and those are not mutually exclusive...they overlap.  Honestly, I believe that religion plays a big part in the self deception of politics, today.  Just think about it.  You have people that are conditioned to not think but to accept whatever the minister or Pat Robertson on TV as being truth, without thinking.  After all, they consider, those people have been Christians longer and MUST understand the Bible a lot more than they do.  The fact that Pat Robertson and several of their "christian" sources are lawyers and political agents with a vested interest does not enter into their mind.  So, after sitting through week after week of church members being told that the world (and them) are evil, why should they accept a politician or newsman or scientist as being true?  Then, when the church leaders tell them that this candidate is God's will...well, who are they to disagree?

Ironically, as society has generally moved forward in intelligence, church structure has reverted to the middle ages, where only the minister "knew" the Bible and told everyone that it was their "Christian" duty to hate others, such as muslims or gays or etc.  And, we are about to begin a new "crusade" of religious wars to invade and Christianize the middle east, as if that worked so well for us the first time.  However, before we start adopting the propaganda of the commonly accepted, let's challenge a few assumptions.

Assumption #1 - Islam is trying to invade our land and attack our faith.  I will admit that for a long time, I bought into this one, because it was SO commonly accepted.  However, let's consider a few things.  Of the two groups (Christian and Muslim), which currently has armies in the others' countries?  Which has been air bombing the lands of the others?  Indeed, if I lived in a land where every few years American bombs fell on my home in the name of Christ, I may justifiably conclude that Christians were violent crusaders, again, trying to take my home.  Further, which country is isolating the faith of the other from entering their land?  And, if we are going to call Muslims violent for the acts of a few dozen on 911, what do we conclude of Christianity for the acts of the KKK, Christian military compounds, and Hitler's Third Reich (who were in their mind good "christians")?

Assumption #2 - Churches care about the poor.  Sadly, this is proving more and more to be a completely backwards falsehood.  Again, I used to buy into it.  However, consider this.  When was the last time you saw a tv program or heard on the air about churches in your community holding a soup kitchen for the hungry, clothes for the homeless, or healthcare funds for the sick?  This is not to say it is not existing at all...I have seen a few local NON-CHURCH organizations that actually live the love of Christ, but almost all actual churches I have seen are too busy building really big buildings and getting great light shows or set decorations or such to give a single dollar that they take from the poor to actually help even the needs of those within their own churches.

Assumption #3 - The last point leads to this one...that the GOP is the party of Christ.  Well, how did Christ live?  He went about caring for the sick, feeding the hungry, and helping the poor and didn't do it saying... ARE YOU order to get any care.  Further, he lived in a very, very savage and corrupt government ruled land, and he didn't run for office or get political at all.  Conservatives can cloak their party in the Christian flag all they want, but Christ wasn't in any political party.  But, current day conservatives call themselves "Christian" for wanting to make abortion illegal, while they cut the very funds necessary upon which the un-aborted child will live.  Indeed, if Christians REALLY wanted to end abortion, they could cut it in half by engaging in national programs run out of their churches to provide a monthly check and shelter for single mothers to raise their unplanned pregnancies or to promote birth control to prevent he pregnancies to begin with...yet, they condemn the use of birth control and not only provide not a dime for raising the child out of their church tithes but promote politics to cut those benefits from the babies, as well.

Just a few uncomfortable, now that you heard them, will you adjust to them or follow the conservative lead and put your fingers in your ears and sign songs of self justification?

Forward to Happiness, Selected Blogs #1 $1.50
Forward to Happiness, Selected Blogs #1

(See below for samples)

I am not a psychologist or a minister (even if I have studied both in college). However, I have had a lot of crap that I have had to deal with over the course of my life and much interaction with users, abusers, and others, giving me insight into signs of which to be aware, pitfalls to avoid, and the best ways to navigate these situations to find your own happiness. Now, I run a blog to try to help others to be inspired when they are feeling alone and judged in just trying to be happy and accepted in just being themselves. Sometimes, you don't want to hear someone with a professional degree tell you how you are not the picture of a fully functional human being with perfect friends or relationsHhips. Sometimes, it helps just to hear from someone else that has been where you are and see how they came out the other side. That is the goal of my blog and this book, and I know it will help you. Selected for this volume are blogs...

My Diverse Foundation (I can relate)
The 4 Stages of Rebirth
Tuning Out the Static (it's ok to be happy)

I hope this helps you in your journey from confusion and pain to peace and clarity and to move each day Forward to Happiness

Here are some samples from the booklet...

"I don't know what your static is.  It is different for everyone, and, indeed, it is different for ME on a daily basis.  However, here is the thing.  It is not their fault for being the static as much as it is YOUR fault for listening.  No one knows what makes you happy, except you.  No one knows what your goals are, except you.  Your inner voice knows EXACTLY what you need and what you want.  Anyone that does not ring in chorus with your heart is an unqualified critic.  Unqualified, because, often, they have never walked in your shoes or faced what you face.  They have not had to live your life, and they are very much pleased by the fact that they do not have to live the advice they give you." (Tuning Out the Static)

"Then, she told me that love was when feeling just well up from within you and spills over.  I told her how cute that was, but no....that is not love.  I don't blame her.  That is how society explains is something you FEEL.  Then, when that FEELING goes away, you are falling out of love.  Love is more than a fact, it is not the feeling at all.  The feeling RESULTS from receiving TRUE LOVE, which is acts of a caring heart.  LOVE is a verb.  It is actions." (A Caring Heart)

"We will not be there for each other all the time.  Sometimes people will be tired and exhausted or more focused on their OWN issues to notice the needs of the other person.  So, there WILL BE for all of us moments when we are in need but the other person is not there for us.  You gotta let those go. " (Trust History)

"What it is, instead, is recognizing that things have changed.  I am no longer my own, and she is no longer her own.  We are a we.  Friends are still a good idea, but friendships must acknowledge the other person in our lives and approach us as a couple, not a singular." (Friends and Relationships)

"First, before you take anything personally, think about what the other person is going through.  Are they feeling devalued elsewhere and more needy for personal stability. Are they unsure about their own decisions in other areas and feeling a need for confidence.  Are they feeling attacked from others and need comfort. " (Relationship Tips of the Week)

"People either care for you, or they don't.  They either support you, or they don't.  You either have a history of actions of them contacting you to see how you are, showing respect for yourself, supporting your choices, or a history of lack of empathy or concern.  It is not an offense to want to surround you with those that care for you.  It is normal." (Users, Abusers, and "Family")

"However, stop and consider something for a minute.   Of the two groups. ..those seeking grace and those seeking justice, which would contain all of those doing the harm or wanting to abuse?  How many rapists are out there asking for justice ...indeed...ANY criminal?  No, they would all fall neatly in the grace camp.  Ok... now, what about victims of those crimes or use?  Do you think victims are crying out for grace of their abuses or do they want justice?  With the exception of those that like pain and want to punish themselves, victims will fall in the camp of wanting justice.  So.... now...knowing this,  how much logic does it hold to say that those wanting grace are "good" and those wanting justice are "evil"... " (Don't Fall For the Grace Trap)

I Dio Not Want Trump to Succeed at His Goal

The hypocrisy is pretty blatant.  The party that could not wait 2 seconds into the term of President Obama to start condemning everything that he said or did started, immediately, calling it unamerican to not jump on board with the policy of Donald Trump, upon being named President...even if less than half the country supported him in the election and by national polls.  Soon, those favorable ratings fell to almost a third, but the Trump supporters chanted all the louder that critics of Trump were harming America by their opposition the the flurry of executive orders (MEANT to bypass the Congress of the People) taken by rule of a sovereign (that means DICTATOR or KING for those that don't know).  And, yet, the power of the SOVEREIGN is used BY TRUMP'S LAWYERS for why he can close borders...

"Acting Solicitor General Noel Francisco forcefully argued Saturday night that the president alone has the power to decide who can enter or stay in the United States – an assertion that appeared to invoke the wider battle to come over illegal immigration.
'The power to expel or exclude aliens is a fundamental sovereign attribute, delegated by Congress to the executive branch of government and largely immune from judicial control,' the brief says."

 Sovereign Trump...KING Trump.

First, he bypasses the Congress.  Then, he declares the courts unqualified to stop his "sovereign" power.  And I am supposed to be un-American to think that is wrong?  No.  I do not think I am unamerican to say I oppose Trump, when he is acting...well, unamerican.

I do not want Trump to succeed at his stated goals.  I do not want him to ban someone for their religious choices.  I do not want him to condemn others for their gender or sexual choices.  I do not want him to put guns in schools.  I do not want him to impose forced Christianity.  I do not want him to start a global war on a religion (did we not learn from the crusades).  I do not want him to cut off medical benefits to the poor or turn away needy refugees.  I do not want him to close our economy to foreign trade and the jobs it creates.  And, I don't think it is a good face for our country to be tweeting condemnations of every country he gets in a pissy contest with, nor a good security policy to say that the country that hacked our election and promoted a President to let them invade their neighbors is our good friend (Russia).  I think Trump is an inexperienced baby at best and a fascist dictator at worst, and I WON'T go down in history or before God being an accomplice to that.

Colonialist Morals? Dispelling Fictional Conservativism

The older I get and the more independent thinking I have grown, I keep seeing one thing after another to be false that I had just accepted since youth as the truth, without even challenging it rationally.  Indoctrination is hard to stop, especially when you don't realize that you have grown up within it your whole life.

For example, I was thinking, tonight, about how Donald Trump was giving conservatives a bad name, even though he is really the product of like values that elected him.  However, then, my  mind allowed itself to rationally be critical of the historic foundation of the conservatives.... the 13 colonies and the early America's birth and founders.

Let's consider the founders, not for the hollywood glory in which they are often presented but in the reality of their own historical acts.  When the explorers came to this land, they didn't find it unoccupied.  It was occupied by natives.  However, they wanted it, so they just took it, imprisoning and killing the FIRST race that they would subject as property to themselves.  This, of course, ran hand and hand with the fastly increasing slave trade of taking human beings from Africa and putting them in chains and shacks and trading them like something on a shelf to families that would use them for all kinds of hardship and labor.  This, all the while they held their Bible high and called the whole process the WILL of GOD that had given them whatever they could take in a thing called "Manifest Destiny" or a perversion of evolution to say that the strong not only take but have the Divine right to not only do so but subject and humiliate all who they overcome.

Sound familiar?  Do we have a movement, today, in this country that hates entire nationalities of people and invades their lands to decide who can and can't rule over them and what land they are entitled to hold....while calling it God's work to subject those people?  Donald Trump is not a distortion of the colonialists.  He is a perfect example, right down to the fact that the colonialists ALSO viewed women as things to own and use at their discretion....passing them down from father to husband at the point of a gun and without even asking her if she accepted in the ceremony, and the same colonialists that put it IN THE CONSTITUTION that someone was not a REAL citizen, unless they had MONEY and PROPERTY (including slaves) to make them entitled to vote.  Indeed, in the first decades of the country ONLY the rich had a vote.

Still think that the morals of the 1700's are a good aspiration for our current day?  Or, maybe just maybe we should advance just a little bit from the morals of 200 years ago to be a little more progressive and fair in our defense of the week and needy and stand for freedom and not the power to subject others.  Maybe...just maybe...we deserve better than the morals of a habitual abuser that takes from the poor for themselves, and maybe we can lead to a better tomorrow in which our kids will live.  Up to you.
